For the Glory of Mother Russia! Part 1

Category: Events, Reviews

FuldaGap_116_[800x600-b]Every November, Command Decisions Wargames Center (www.cdpaintball.com) in Taylorsville, NC hosts one of the largest scenarios in the Mid-Atlantic and players from all over the southeast save up their rubles to participate. This is the one game all year, all Carolina players wait for. This year’s Fulda Gap did not disappoint them. The nearly 600 player Fulda Gap (www.FuldaGap.com) event leaned more toward a real military simulation than paintball game as the strategy, battles and even the hiccups more closely resembled real life military situations than your typical paintball game. Players came from all over the southeast to participate in the one of the fastest growing scenarios in paintball. Read more

Splat a Spook at Line of Fire Paintball

Shooting paintballs without the threat of getting shot back? This sounds like fun! Line of Fire Paintball in Mills River, NC is hosting a “Splat a Spook” evening after hours at LOFPB. The SPLAT-A-SPOOK event is NOT a game and shooters will NOT use their own equipment. This event is aimed at letting those who have wanted to try shooting paintball markers (but were concerned about being shot). The shooters will ride a small haycart through our courses and shoot at unarmed ‘live’ monster targets and motion activated targets that will appear from time to time. All shooters will receive a LOF ‘treat bag’ when they are done shooting. What a great way to get newbies interested in playing paintball. For more information, contact LOFPB at 828-891-2399.

Paintball and Real Life

Category: Tactics & Strategy

face shot_1208533-01Paintball has very little to do with real life. It’s pretend war. It’s playing the indestructible hero. It’s raining righteous destruction on your foes and surviving to do it again. Bad news Tater, real life isn’t like that. But there is at least one instance where life and paintball have some startling similarities. Read more

Annual Paintball Sniper Challenge Oct.18th

Category: Events

long barrel_12016648-01Jack Hughes is hosting the First Annual Sniper Challenge, Saturday October 18th at 8:00am (evidently snipers get up early!). The event says that it is limited to the first 25 players that sign up. It is being hosted on private property and the entry cost is $5.

There is a lot of controversy over whether there even IS such a thing as snipers in paintball.  Everyone has their own opinion and since I am paying for the hosting space of this blog, have a free evening, and can type a whopping 6 words per minute, so I get to spew mine. Reading and believing are optional. Snickering is probable.

The Sky is Burning!

Category: Events

BurningSky092008_1971-01Operation: Burning Sky hosted by Boss Paintball demonstrated once again that Good can triumph over Evil, or at the very least, it can give it a wedgie. The one day mini-scenario pitted the Axis of Evil (Russia, Iran and Korea) against the U.S. and Allied forces in a simulated futuristic battle. In part one, Operation: Shining Shield, played in January, the Axis defeated the Allies, but payback is a what? Read more
